RE/MAX Lakeside Mixer Was A Big Hit!

RE/MAX Lakeside Mixer was a Big Hit!

It was a packed house Thursday evening at the RE/MAX Lakeside office as we played host to the first Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce Mixer of 2010. With an estimated attendance of 60 local business owners, who enjoyed great food and drinks, the mixer was a wonderful opportunity to network and promote business in the Lake Arrowhead area. RE/MAX Lakeside would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Leslie, Lewis, and the entire Chamber of Commerce staff for allowing us to host this event. As RE/MAX Agents who specialize in Lake Arrowhead Real Estate we would like to thank all who attended, we are truly delighted and grateful to have so many Chamber members show there support.

Big congratulations to Brent and Lynice Hightower who were the winners of the evening taking home a special gift package featuring private selection wine from the Lake Arrowhead Vintage Series and wine tasting for four to Vino 100.

What a great way to kick off the year! Keep your eyes on RE/MAX Lakeside because we have good things on the horizon for 2010.

Lake Arrowhead Government

Lake Arrowhead is an unincorporated area governed by the County of San Bernardino. It is not a city. A County building in Twin Peaks houses building and safety.

The County also provides a Library in Blue Jay. The California Highway Patrol has a facility in Running Springs. Fire protection and Paramedic services are provided by the Lake Arrowhead and Crest Forest Fire Districts with four full time and four volunteer stations located in the Arrowhead area. In addition, the Forest Service and California Division of Forestry provide fire protection facilities, equipment and personnel in the area.

Lake Arrowhead Communities Service District provides water and sewer to Arrowhead Woods. Water service to surrounding communities outside of Arrowhead Woods is provided by private water companies. The Rim of the World School District covers not only the Lake Arrowhead area but also the Crestline and Running Springs areas. The single high school and junior high school as well as (2) of the district’s five (5) elementary schools are located in the Arrowhead area. Several Universities are located within commuter distance from the Arrowhead area in San Bernardino and Riverside.

The U.S. Postal Service maintains seven (7) post offices in the Arrowhead area. All mail pick-up is using post office boxes.

Arts and Science

Lake Arrowhead has numerous cultural events and organizations. The Arrowhead Arts Association has a number of musical presentations throughout the year.

There are several art galleries throughout the communities (many internationally known artists make the area their home) and there are also local theater groups.

Annually the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Club brings in artists from all over Southern California to showcase their work in a lakeside Art & Wine Festival. Throughout the year the Lake Arrowhead Communities are host to multiple events such as a craft fair, bike race, a 15K run, an antique wooden boat show, an ice show, community dances or some other event held for the enjoyment of both residents and visitors.

Lake Arrowhead is also the home of the Mountain Skies Astronomical Society, the largest member organization of its kind in the world. This group has designed a 1.8 million dollar, 6,500 sq. ft. facility which will house a state of the art observatory and a science education center on a three acre site along the Rim of the World Highway. Lake Arrowhead skies are among the best in the world for star watching.

Camping and Hiking in the Mountains

Lake Arrowhead offers a variety of options for those wishing to camp in the surrounding National Forest.

There are two campgrounds in the Lake Arrowhead Communities;

Dogwood Campground

Description:
This campground is located 20 miles Northeast of San Bernardino, CA in the San Bernardino National Forest. The campground was completely remodeled in 2004, complete with modern restrooms, showers, & several electric hook-ups for RV’s. Activities include Interpretive programs on Friday and Saturday nights, Hiking trails, 15 minutes away from Lake Gregory, with boating, fishing and a water slide park. Lake Arrowhead village, with it’s fine dinning and quaint shops is only 5 minutes away.

North Shore Campground

Description:
This campground is located 23 miles Northeast of San Bernardino in the San Bernardino National Forrest, 3 miles from Lake Arrowhead Village, and 20 minutes to Lake Gregory with fishing, boat rentals and a water slide park. Campground has modern restrooms and running water.
Located in the San Bernardino Mountains. Restrooms are provided. Group camping is not available

Group Camps

For groups of thirty to ninety people, group campgrounds provide another option. Picnic tables, fire rings, and bathrooms — and a certain distance from other campers — make the group campgrounds a popular option for church group and scout campouts. There are three group camps located within close proximity of the Lake Arrowhead Communties; Shady Cove, Tent Peg, and Fisherman’s Camp. Reservations are required.

For camping reservations, please call the National Reservation Service at: 1-877-444-6777 or visit their website at www.recreation.gov

Hiking

There are numerous hiking trails in the area with the Pacific Crest Trail passing within a few miles of the Lake Arrowhead Communities. Take a look at the hiking and camping trail map and choose one of our many trails and campgrounds available during the warms weather months.

The maintained campgrounds are based on a fee structure, and have ready access to hiking trails
Remember! We are located over 1 mile high in altitude!
The air is thinner (and cleaner!) up here.
Please prepare yourself accordingly for a wonderful time

Yellow Post sites offer a more primitive camping experience with considerable distance from other campsites and few amenities while being conveniently accessed from a paved road. Fire rings are provided but may be used only when the fire danger level permits – call the Ranger Station, 909-382-2782, for information. Yellow post sites are available on a first-come-first-served basis, free of charge.

For the adventurous, remote camping is allowed throughout the National Forest. Specific guidlines apply when camping outisde of developed sites so call the Ranger Station, (909) 382-2782, before you embark on your trip.

Lake Arrowhead Recreation

If you wish to experience Mother Nature, The Lake Arrowhead Communities are for you. There are countless ways to enjoy the fresh air, pristine forests, and natural wonders located in this one-of-a-kind location in Southern California.

There are many camps and campgrounds in the area with the Lake Arrowhead Communities being the base for recreation activity in the San Bernardino National Forest. There are numerous hiking trails in the area with the Pacific Crest Trail passing within a few miles of the Lake Arrowhead Communities. There are also three Picnic Areas with BBQs, restrooms, and spectacular views of the valley below.

Water sports are available throughout the summer and early fall. As Lake Arrowhead is a private lake owned by the homeowners of Arrowhead Woods, visitors who are not guests of property owners have very limited use of the lake*. Nearby Lake Gregory is a public, County Park with swimming, boating, fishing, and a giant water slide.

Stream fishing, off road vehicle areas, mountain biking, and equestrian trails are nearby and great snow skiing and cross country skiing are only 25 minutes away. Wildhaven Rehabilitation Center & Sanctuary, Strawberry Peak Fire Lookout, and Mountain Skies Astronomical Society add to the “things to see and do” list while visiting the area.

Within the communities there is also a private yacht club, private country club with an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts and swimming pool, and a four-screen movie theater.

The Rim of the World Parks and Recreation District sponsors youth and adult sports leagues as well as a variety of other programs. Organized youth sports available in the area include Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football and AYSO. For seniors, there is a very active Senior Center in the Twin Peaks area.

*Visitors to the area can access Lake Arrowhead by boat on the Arrowhead Queen Boat Tour, by water ski through the McKenzie Water Ski School, or on foot by strolling the boardwalk at Lake Arrowhead Village.
